Decorating a kid’s room can be as fun for kids as it is for parents. It is a great opportunity for your child to express his or her unique personality. Interior decoration can be as simple as choosing an interesting color for the walls, or it can be a playful ongoing project that grows and develops along with your child.
It is important to realize that kids grow up quickly. Your child might be a completely different person after just one year. At first your child might be sleeping in a crib, then a regular bed, and then perhaps a bunk bed. The room is a reflection of your child’s age and personality.
One idea is to have your child decide on a theme for the room. Does your daughter love flowers? Wallpaper is out of style, but why not bring it back with some pretty floral wallpaper? You can match the walls by selecting floral blankets and sheets for your daughter’s bunk bed. Does your son enjoy sports? Many sports-obsessed boys love to hang jerseys up on the wall.
Interior design is just as much about practicality as it is about beauty. Many bunk beds come with desks at the bottom, a great way to save both space and money. Remember also, dark curtains will keep out the sunlight much better than window blinds. But perhaps if you want your kid to get up in time for school, it would be better to avoid curtains entirely!
Experiment with fun furniture. Instead of purchasing drab chairs, why not get beanbag chairs or colorful exercise balls instead?
Be creative when coming up with design ideas, but don’t forget that this is where your child is going to live. First and foremost, make the space pleasant, livable, and fun.
